Frequently Asked Questions
English Skills That Matter
Based on my experience of teaching hundreds of students from all walks of life since 2009, studying good teaching publications and networking with teaching professionals, I have developed my own unique methods to empower students to read, write and speak better.
You won't be practising exam papers mindlessly. Rather, I'll take you through skills you need to acquire one step at a time. Then, it'll all make much more sense when you tackle the English paper on your own.
Learning only takes place when students are actively engaged. In my classes, you can expect to take part in hands-on activities, contests (attractive prizes to be won!), quizzes and fun group work.

Know Your Tutor
I conduct all my classes personally. When you learn from me, you know who I am, what my experience is and how I conduct my classes.
I Care About Your Progress
Classes are kept small (4-6 students) so that I can get to know you as well as give you regular feedback on how you are doing. If you take personal responsibility for your learning, I will give you all the help you need.
Parents or caregivers will also receive a progress update from me every term, in the months of March, June, September and December each year.
Speaking, Reading & Writing
ALL components of the English exam paper are taught except for listening. In other words, you'll learn speaking, reading and writing skills.
Special Note on Speaking Skills
The speaking component is often overlooked. It is important to start speaking up and build confidence from the start because the Oral Communication component accounts for 20% of your entire O Level exam paper.
In my classes, you'll have the chance to speak your mind and learn to express your opinions regularly (because your voice matters!).
Speaking, Reading & Writing
Yes. For new students, you can choose to make payment for 4 lessons rather than pay for the entire term.
4 lessons will give you sufficient time to decide if we are a good fit for each other without making a big commitment.

Mindfulness is a powerful (if not essential) tool to help you gain insight into your own thoughts, motivations and emotions.
We practice mindfulness during lessons because I believe in its relevance to today's youths and of course the English exam paper, especially the Paper 1, Section C.

Yes, you can. However, I highly recommend that you start the year or at least in the beginning of each term with us.
If you are a new student and you do join us in the middle of a term, your fees will be prorated according to the remaining number of lessons left in that term.
